Escrow

Our escrow module will export all data necessary to restart the registry by scratch. Data are encrypted using an asymmetric method and the keycan be handed over to another party (e.g. ICANN) for contingency purposes. We interface over a secure VPN tunnel using standard redundant internet infrastructure, thereby eliminating the need for extra specific requirements to set-up the connection between the escrow provider and the registry system.

OpenRegistry uses the full ICANN compliant procedure:

  1. OpenRegistry will submit a set of escrow files on a daily basis
  2. Files will be named according to the following convention: {gTLD}_{YYYY-MM-DD}_{type}_S{#}_R{rev}.{ext}.
  3. A digital signature file will be generated for every processed file using the Registry's private key.
  4. The processed files and digital signature files will then be transferred to the Escrow Agent through secure electronic mechanisms.
  5. The Escrow Agent will then validate every (processed) transferred data file and inform both ICANN and the Registry.
